ISAT University marked a significant milestone with the successful conduct of its first-ever Earth Hour Celebration, led by the National and International Affairs Office in collaboration with the Student Republic, NSTP, and students from major, minor, and special organizations.
The event brought together the university community in a unified effort to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. It began with a rationale and global context delivered by the Vice President for External Affairs, Dr. Juniffer B. Badoles, emphasizing the importance of collective action in addressing climate change. This was followed by a safety briefing from the Safety, Security, Environment and Disaster Mitigation Management Office to ensure the well-being of all participants throughout the activity.

A highlight of the program was the lights-off countdown at 8:30 PM led by University President, Dr, Gabriel M. Salistre, Jr., officially marking the start of Earth Hour. This symbolic act was followed by the lighting of a bonfire and a candle-lighting activity, where more than 120 participants formed the number “60” on the field—representing the global “60 minutes” of Earth Hour and the shared commitment to protect the planet.

Throughout the hour, the atmosphere was filled with meaningful and engaging activities, including singing, dancing, and messages of reflection that encouraged participants to think about their role in environmental conservation. The event also featured the signing of a sustainability pledge, reinforcing the university’s commitment to fostering responsible and eco-conscious individuals.

The celebration concluded with a community singing activity, followed by the lights being turned back on at 9:30 PM—symbolizing hope, unity, and continued action beyond Earth Hour.
Through this initiative, ISAT University reaffirmed its dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship, demonstrating that small, collective actions can lead to significant impact.
