Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) welcomed personnel from the Department of Energy (DOE) on April 15, 2026, for an unannounced ocular inspection and monitoring of the University’s energy efficiency and conservation measures.

The visit was conducted under the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP), which ensures that public institutions comply with national policies on energy conservation and fuel efficiency amid global energy challenges.

During the inspection, the DOE team evaluated ISAT U’s initiatives such as electricity-saving practices, efficient use of air-conditioning systems, adoption of LED lighting and fuel efficiency measures, including proper vehicle maintenance, monitoring of fuel consumption, and optimized transport operations.The team also reviewed documentation and monitoring systems that track both energy and fuel usage.

ISAT U earned an impressive 90% compliance rating, equivalent to a 5-Star recognition, highlighting the University’s strong commitment to sustainable energy and fuel management practices. This achievement underscores ISAT U’s proactive role in promoting responsible energy use and aligning with national energy efficiency goals.

University officials reaffirmed their dedication to continuously enhancing conservation strategies, ensuring compliance with government directives while contributing to environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.

This recognition positions ISAT U as a model institution in energy management, setting a benchmark for other universities and public agencies in the country.
