Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) convened a coordination meeting with key partners to advance a community-based project focused on the mental health and wellness of the indigenous population in Janiuay, Iloilo on April 15, 2026.
The collaborative effort brought together representatives from the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development, the Province of Iloilo Department of Health Office, EKSENA Training Services, and the Local Government Unit of Janiuay—through its Municipal Health Office and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.

ISAT U delegates Dr. Marjorie Maido, Dr. Lynna Marquelencia, and Mr. Ascer Glen Magno actively participated in the discussions, underscoring the importance of inclusive approaches and strong collaboration in delivering responsive mental health interventions. The dialogue highlighted the shared commitment of all stakeholders to create sustainable, culturally sensitive, and community-driven programs that address the unique needs of indigenous groups.

This initiative reflects ISAT U’s dedication to extending its academic expertise beyond the classroom, fostering partnerships that promote holistic well-being and social development. By working hand in hand with government agencies and local organizations, the university aims to ensure that mental health services are accessible, relevant, and empowering for the indigenous community of Janiuay.
