The Iloilo Science and Technology University in support of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Western Visayas’ Adopt-an-Estero/Water Body Program, joined the 2nd Quarter Orchestrated Clean-Up Activity, which was successfully conducted on June 18, 2026, as part of the nationwide observance of Philippine Environment Month.

Anchored on the theme, “Aksyon Klima, Bayanihang Makapagkalinga sa Kapaligiran,” the initiative headed by the Safety, Security, Environment, Disaster Mitigation Management Office (SSEDMMO) and participated by the office of the Planning and Development Auxiliary Services, underscored the importance of collective action, environmental stewardship,and community participation in protecting and preserving waterways across the region.

The clean-up drives also brought together local government units, partner agencies, privateorganizations, and community volunteers, all united in their commitment to safeguard esteros and water bodies from pollution and degradation. Through bayanihan, participants collected waste, cleared clogged waterways, and promoted sustainable practices to strengthen climate resilience and environmental protection.
This activity which is more than just cleaning of waterways is a call to action for every citizen to take responsibility for a healthier ecosystem and caring for the whole environment. By working together, we can ensure healthier ecosystems and a safer future for generations to come.
The orchestrated clean-up forms part of EMB’s continuing efforts to engage communities in proactive environmental management, highlighting that climate action begins at thegrassroots level.
As the Philippines celebrates Environment Month this June, EMB Western Visayas reaffirms its commitment to fostering partnerships and empowering communities to champion sustainable practices for a cleaner, greener, and climate-resilient nation.
