Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) welcomed Hon. Engr. Adelino V. Garcia, Chairman of the Professional Regulatory Board of Electrical Engineering (PRBEE), during a courtesy visit and strategic meeting held at the President’s Office on September 18, 2026.

Chairman Garcia was accompanied by Engr. Robert U. Mabulay, National President of the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE).

The engagement brought together key university officials and stakeholders, including Dr. Antonie M. Umahag, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department; members of the faculty; university administrators; and officers of the IIEE–Iloilo Chapter. The meeting was conducted pursuant to an official memorandum issued by SUC President III Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre, Jr.

The gathering provided a venue for strengthening professional and academic linkages between ISAT U, the PRBEE, and the IIEE. Discussions also focused on potential areas of collaboration and matters concerning the advancement of electrical engineering education and professional practice.

Through engagements such as this, ISAT U continues to foster partnerships with professional organizations and regulatory bodies in support of quality instruction, industry-responsive programs, and the continuing development of electrical engineering students and professionals.

The Parent-Administration Dialogue 2026 has moved into its Dialogue Session, bringing together parents and university officials for an open and meaningful exchange of concerns, questions, insights, and recommendations on September 19, 2026.

The session served as a platform for strengthening communication and collaboration between families and the University. Through constructive discussions, participants address matters concerning the welfare, development, and overall student experience of students at the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U).

The dialogue also provided the parents with an opportunity to share their perspectives and raise issues affecting students, while university officials respond to concerns and present initiatives aimed at supporting student success.

By fostering transparency, mutual understanding, and active participation, the Parent-Administration Dialogue reinforcef the shared responsibility of families and the University in creating a supportive and responsive academic environment for ISAT U students.

Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Iloilo Medical Society (IMS), on September 17, 2026, at ISAT U Cultural Heritage and Educational Research Center (CHERC), establishing a media partnership aimed at strengthening health education and public wellness awareness.

Under the partnership, medical experts will share timely, reliable, and accessible health information through “Doktor sa Radyo: IMS Health Hour,” a sub-segment of ISAT U’s flagship radio program, Ladies First. The segment will air every second Tuesday of the month over DYLL Radyo Pilipinas 585 kHz.

The collaboration will provide listeners and viewers with expert-led discussions on health concerns, preventive care, healthy practices, and other topics relevant to the well-being of individuals and communities. It also seeks to help the public make informed health decisions by connecting audiences with credible medical professionals.

The signing ceremony was graced by ISAT U President Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre, Jr. and IMS President Dr. Rhodelyn B. Almeñana, together with Dr. Jesus Eugenio G. De Jesus; Dr. Raul F. Muyong, Assistant to the University President for Governance, Advocacy and Quality Assurance; Dr. Russ Allen B. Napud, Vice President for Administration and Finance; and Dr. Heinz B. Gumaquil, Public Information and Communications Office Director.

Through the initiative, ISAT U and IMS reaffirm their shared commitment to public service and community engagement. By combining the University’s media platform with the medical expertise of IMS members, the partnership is expected to broaden access to trustworthy health information and promote a more health-conscious public.

The MOU further reflects ISAT U’s continuing efforts to build meaningful partnerships that use education and communication to address community needs and improve public well-being.

Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) welcomed delegates from Garcia College of Technology (GCT) in Kalibo, Aklan, for a benchmarking activity on September 15, 2026.

The visit covered the civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering departments of ISAT U’s College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA), as well as the hospitality management department of the College of Global Business and Enterprise (CGBE). It focused on facility evaluation, curriculum integration, and institutional operating practices.

The GCT delegation began the activity with a courtesy call on Dr. Carmelo V. Ambut, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the University President. The meeting highlighted the institutions’ shared commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and collaborative learning.

Following the courtesy call, the delegates toured the University Library and visited the laboratory rooms and facilities supporting CGBE’s hospitality management program at the L Building. They later proceeded to CEA, where they observed the laboratories used by the civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering departments.

The delegation concluded its tour at the University’s Research Hub, where its members explored the iHub and Fabrication Laboratory and learned about the facilities’ contributions to research, innovation, prototyping, and technology development.

The benchmarking activity provided both institutions with an avenue to exchange knowledge and insights on academic facilities, curriculum delivery, laboratory management, and operational practices. It also opened opportunities for closer institutional collaboration and potential academic partnerships.

Through initiatives such as this, ISAT U continues to support knowledge sharing and strengthen its relationships with fellow higher education institutions toward advancing responsive and quality education.

Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U), in coordination with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office No. 074 – South Iloilo and Guimaras, conducted a Tax Clinic under the Taxpayer Education and Assistance Program (TEAP) on September 15, 2026, at the Student Services Building Multipurpose Hall.

The activity provided the University’s Job Order (JO) and Contract of Service (COS) personnel with essential information on BIR registration, tax compliance requirements, and their responsibilities as taxpayers.

Ms. Rhodora C. Acanto, Chief Collection Officer of BIR RDO 074, spearheaded the session. She shared practical guidance on taxpayer registration and compliance with existing tax rules and regulations.

The Tax Clinic also provided participants with an opportunity to clarify tax-related concerns and gain a better understanding of the processes and requirements relevant to their employment arrangements.

Through the initiative, ISAT U strengthened its support for JO and COS personnel while promoting tax awareness, responsible citizenship, and proper compliance with BIR regulations.

The activity reflects the University’s continuing commitment to employee welfare and collaboration with government agencies in making essential public services and information more accessible to its personnel.

Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) has strengthened its global academic and industry linkages through a partnership with the Xingtai Polytechnic Institute of New Energy (XTPINE) and JA Solar in Xingtai City, Hebei Province, China.

University President Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre, Jr., together with College of Industrial Technology Dean Dr. Rene L. Celda, visited XTPINE and JA Solar on September 14, 2026 to explore opportunities in photovoltaic technology, technical education, language training, and industry-academe collaboration.

A key milestone of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between ISAT U and XTPINE. The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration that draws on XTPINE’s expertise in photovoltaic curriculum development and industry-education integration, including its linkages with solar technology companies such as JA Solar.

Areas of Collaboration

Under the partnership, ISAT U and XTPINE will pursue initiatives in the following areas:

• Joint curriculum development: Photovoltaic modules will be integrated into ISAT U’s electrical and mechanical engineering programs. Proposed areas include solar power station design, grid connection, manufacturing, operations and maintenance, and relevant industry standards.
• Faculty and student exchanges: The institutions will facilitate reciprocal academic visits and specialized training. These activities may include programs at ISAT U’s SMARTECH 4.0 Center and visits to Chinese-invested projects and industry facilities.
• “Chinese + PV” talent development: Technical training in photovoltaic systems will be combined with Chinese-language instruction to strengthen students’ technical and intercultural competencies.

The collaboration is expected to provide ISAT U students and faculty with greater exposure to emerging renewable-energy technologies, international learning environments, and industry-based practices. It also seeks to improve graduates’ employability, particularly in renewable-energy companies and Chinese-invested enterprises operating in the Philippines.

Through the partnership, ISAT U reaffirms its commitment to internationalization, sustainable technology, and industry-responsive education. The initiative also supports the University’s efforts to prepare globally competitive professionals who can contribute to the Philippines’ transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy systems.

Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) crowned Ms. Ada Maye C. Perez of the College of Global Business and Enterprise (CGBE) and Mr. Nazeer Ahmed T. Shaik of the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) as Miss ISAT U 2026 and Mr. ISAT U 2026, respectively.

The competition brought together candidates from the University’s colleges and campuses in a vibrant celebration of Filipino culture, creativity, confidence, and institutional pride. Throughout the event, the candidates demonstrated poise, talent, and character while representing their respective academic communities.

Ms. Ainie D. Loza of Barotac Nuevo Campus and Mr. Airon P. Caña of CGBE were named first runners-up. Ms. Rona Mae C. Silva of the College of Education (COE) and Mr. Jan Azariah Dayot of the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) finished as second runners-up. Ms. Shanley Mizi B. Detoyato of Dumangas Campus and Mr. Matt Vincent Anthony E. Salon of COE were recognized as third runners-up.

Several candidates also received special distinctions for their outstanding performances:

Beyond the crowns and awards, Mr. and Miss ISAT U 2026 provided a platform for students to celebrate their heritage, express their individuality, and embody the values of the University. Each candidate carried the culture, identity, and spirit of their college or campus onto the stage.
