Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) Barotac Nuevo Campus welcomed the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VI (CHED RO VI) team for a monitoring and evaluation visit, on August 27, 2026, aimed at strengthening institutional compliance and educational quality.

The CHED RO VI delegation was led by Dr. Roxanne I. Edrosolano, Education Supervisor II. The visit focused on reviewing the campus’s operational standards, assessing compliance with relevant policies and guidelines, and identifying opportunities to further enhance its academic environment.

The evaluation covered several key areas, including undergraduate programs, Student Affairs and Services, Peace Education, Indigenous Peoples Education, Gender and Development, and flexible learning initiatives.

Campus officials and personnel engaged with the CHED RO VI team throughout the assessment, providing relevant information on the University’s academic programs, student support mechanisms, and initiatives promoting inclusive and accessible education.

The monitoring and evaluation visit reflects ISAT U Barotac Nuevo Campus’s commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to national standards for higher education. It also supports the University’s efforts to provide responsive academic programs and services that address the diverse needs of its students and stakeholders.

Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) welcomed Dr. Arvin N. Natividad, newly appointed Vice President for Institutional Development and External Affairs of Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), for a cross-learning activity on August 27, 2026.

Dr. Natividad visited ISAT U’s Office of the Vice President for External Affairs (VPEA) to gain insights into its key functions, particularly its strategies for establishing and strengthening local and international partnerships and implementing collaborative programs.

The discussion was led by Dr. Juniffer B. Badoles, Vice President for External Affairs of ISAT U. It highlighted the roles of the four offices under the VPEA: Alumni Affairs and Relations, Industry Linkages and Development, National and International Affairs, and Parents’ Affairs and Relations.

The activity also explored how these offices work together to advance the interests and welfare of ISAT U’s stakeholders. Through the exchange of institutional practices and experiences, the engagement provided an opportunity for both universities to strengthen their approaches to external relations, partnership-building, and stakeholder engagement.

The cross-learning activity further reinforced the growing collaboration between ISAT U and SLSU, whose institutional partnership was formalized in January 2026. Both universities remain committed to promoting knowledge exchange and pursuing collaborative initiatives that support institutional development and academic excellence.

Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) Iloilo City Campus earned four awards during the Regional Orientation and Coordination Activity for Higher Education Institutions in Western Visayas, known as PROJECT GABAY.

Hosted by the Commission on Higher Education-Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education Regional Office VI (CHED UniFAST RO VI), the activity was held on August 27, 2026, at Sotogrande Hotel. It recognized higher education institutions for their compliance, efficiency, and dedication to implementing student financial assistance programs.

ISAT U received the following distinctions:

• 1st Place – Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES): Awarded for exceptional compliance, efficiency, and timely adherence to program guidelines.
• 1st Place – Cashier Transactions: Recognized for outstanding accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency in processing transactions.
• 2nd Place – Tulong Dunong Program (TDP): Conferred for exemplary commitment and effective coordination in delivering the program.
• 3rd Place – Liquidation: Awarded for diligence and discipline in promptly submitting complete financial reports.

The awards reflect the coordinated efforts of the University’s administrators and personnel in ensuring that financial assistance reaches qualified students efficiently and responsibly. They also highlight ISAT U’s commitment to maintaining accurate processes, timely reporting, and compliance with government standards.

Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) successfully hosted a two-day seminar-workshop on August 26-27, 2026, aimed at strengthening research and innovation in functional cosmetics.

Held at the TLE Service Center, the event brought together faculty members, researchers, and students to explore the development of cosmetics derived from natural products. The activity provided participants with expert mentorship and an opportunity to transform promising research ideas into scientifically validated and commercially viable products.

During the workshop, participants presented their research concepts and received technical guidance from Balik Scientist Dr. Myra O. Villareal. Through interactive discussions and mentoring sessions, they refined their research proposals, strengthened their scientific approaches, and considered pathways for product development and commercialization.

The seminar-workshop highlighted the importance of collaboration among researchers, academic institutions, and industry stakeholders in advancing sustainable and research-driven cosmetics innovation. It also reinforced ISAT U’s commitment to supporting studies that respond to emerging consumer needs while maximizing the potential of natural resources.

Supported by the Balik Scientist Program, the initiative reflects ISAT U’s continuing efforts to cultivate a culture of research excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and sustainable innovation. Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) welcomed Dr. Myra O. Villareal, a Balik Scientist under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), during her visit to the University on August 26, 2026.

Dr. Villareal is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Materials and Life Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology, Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan.

She was warmly received by Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre, Jr., SUC President III, and Dr. Juniffer B. Badoles, Vice President for External Affairs, during a courtesy call.

Following the courtesy call, University officials met with Dr. Villareal to discuss potential areas of collaboration, particularly opportunities to advance academic and research partnerships. The meeting provided a platform for exchanging insights and identifying initiatives that could strengthen research capabilities, knowledge sharing, and international academic engagement.

Dr. Villareal’s visit reflects ISAT U’s continuing commitment to building meaningful partnerships with Filipino scientists and international academic institutions. Through collaborations supported by the DOST Balik Scientist Program, the University aims to create more opportunities for its faculty members, researchers, and students while contributing to scientific innovation and national development.

The Professional Regulatory Board of Mechanical Engineering of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) conducted a physical inspection and monitoring visit at Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) on August 26, 2026.

The activity formed part of the Board’s regulatory functions to assess institutions offering Mechanical Engineering-related programs and ensure their continued compliance with applicable professional and academic standards.

During the visit, the Board reviewed relevant facilities, resources, and academic provisions supporting the University’s Mechanical Engineering program. The inspection provided an opportunity to evaluate existing practices and identify areas for continuous improvement in program delivery.

ISAT U representatives assisted the PRC delegation throughout the monitoring activity and provided the necessary information and documentation for the assessment.

The visit underscored the shared commitment of PRC and ISAT U to upholding quality standards in engineering education and preparing future mechanical engineers for professional practice.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has tapped the expertise of Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) and partner organizations in advancing a collaborative initiative aimed at strengthening fiscal governance and improving the institutional performance of local government units (LGUs) in Western Visayas.

The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the ISAT U Innovation Hub, bringing together representatives from DBM, ISAT U, Guimaras State University (GSU), and Junior Chamber International (JCI) Iloilo.

At the center of the partnership is the implementation of DBM SAIS, or Strategic Approach for Institutional Strengthening — Bridging LGU PFM Gaps and Advancing Performance Recognition through Diagnostic Results.

The project is designed to assist LGUs in identifying gaps and areas for improvement in public financial management (PFM). Through the use of diagnostic results and targeted institutional interventions, DBM SAIS seeks to translate identified challenges into concrete measures that can strengthen fiscal administration, governance systems, and overall organizational performance.

By bringing together government, higher education institutions, and civic organizations, the initiative also highlights the importance of cross-sector collaboration in building stronger and more responsive local governance systems.

Signing the agreement were DBM Regional Director Lianne Gayomali; ISAT U President Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre Jr.; GSU President Dr. Lilian Diana B. Parreño; and JCI Regatta President Steve L. Navigar Jr.

Also present during the ceremony were the respective focal persons designated for the DBM SAIS project, along with personnel and representatives from the participating institutions who will contribute their expertise and support to the implementation of the initiative.

ISAT U’s participation in the partnership further strengthens the University’s role in extending its academic and technical expertise beyond the campus and contributing to programs that address the needs of government institutions and communities in the region.
