Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) welcomed Dr. Myra O. Villareal, a Balik Scientist under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), during her visit to the University on August 26, 2026.

Dr. Villareal is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Materials and Life Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology, Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan.

She was warmly received by Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre, Jr., SUC President III, and Dr. Juniffer B. Badoles, Vice President for External Affairs, during a courtesy call.

Following the courtesy call, University officials met with Dr. Villareal to discuss potential areas of collaboration, particularly opportunities to advance academic and research partnerships. The meeting provided a platform for exchanging insights and identifying initiatives that could strengthen research capabilities, knowledge sharing, and international academic engagement.

Dr. Villareal’s visit reflects ISAT U’s continuing commitment to building meaningful partnerships with Filipino scientists and international academic institutions. Through collaborations supported by the DOST Balik Scientist Program, the University aims to create more opportunities for its faculty members, researchers, and students while contributing to scientific innovation and national development.

The Professional Regulatory Board of Mechanical Engineering of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) conducted a physical inspection and monitoring visit at Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) on August 26, 2026.

The activity formed part of the Board’s regulatory functions to assess institutions offering Mechanical Engineering-related programs and ensure their continued compliance with applicable professional and academic standards.

During the visit, the Board reviewed relevant facilities, resources, and academic provisions supporting the University’s Mechanical Engineering program. The inspection provided an opportunity to evaluate existing practices and identify areas for continuous improvement in program delivery.

ISAT U representatives assisted the PRC delegation throughout the monitoring activity and provided the necessary information and documentation for the assessment.

The visit underscored the shared commitment of PRC and ISAT U to upholding quality standards in engineering education and preparing future mechanical engineers for professional practice.
